Letter to the Governor requesting he sign SB 100.
Signed April 10, 2009.  PA 95-1052, effective July 1, 2009

The Honorable Pat Quinn
Governor of Illinois
207 State Capitol
Springfield, IL 62706

RE:  SB 100

Dear Governor Quinn:

The League of Women Voters requests that you sign SB 100, the work of  CLEAR [Criminal Law, Edit, Alignment and Reform], a  bi-partisan committee.  The committee worked over several years to revise the Criminal Code of 1961, the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 and the Unified Code of Corrections.  The intent has been to revise without changing existing crimes and punishments.

The League took part in the recodification effort that resulted in the Juvenile Court Act of 1987.  A more useful document resulted from that work.  We believe SB 100 merits your support because it, too, represents a step forward.

Thank you for your consideration of our request.

Yours truly,

Paula Lawson                                      Eileen Subak
