November 17, 2011:HR 822 – Conceal and Carry Contact your Congressman and urge him or her to VOTE NO on HR 822.

November 7, 2011: Health Benefits Exchange - Governing BoardContact your Representative to VOTE YES on SB 1313 House Amendment 2. We support a Competitive Health Insurance Marketplace with strong conflict of interest and transparency provisions. The independent Governing Board should represent consumers, small businesses, and other stakeholders, excluding those with potential conflicts of interest, as insurers, brokers, health care providers.

November 7, 2011: Tenaska’s Taylorville Energy Center Bill Contact your state senator to VOTE NO on SB678 Taylorville Energy Center Bill and to make sure this project is dead once and for all. If your senator previously opposed this project thank him/her for voting to protect Illinois ratepayers and the environment and urge continued opposition to the Taylorville Energy Center. Ask your senator to support real clean energy projects that create good stable jobs for Illinois

November 7, 2011: Property Tax Extension Limitation Law Contact your Representative to VOTE NO on HB3793 a bill that will change the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law (PTELL) from the current Consumer Price Index or 5%, whichever is lower, to 0% or a voter approved rate if the Equalized Assessed Value (EAV) of all taxable property in a taxing district for the current levy year decreases.

November 7, 2011: Medically Accurate, Age-Appropriate, Complete Sex Education. Contact your State Representative to VOTE YES on the motion to concur with Senate AMENDMENTS 1 & 3 to HB 3027 for Medically Accurate, Age-Appropriate, Complete Sex Education.

November 7, 2011: Regional Education Office The Governor’s budget cuts have left these offices unfunded while the state expects them to continue to fulfill their duties. Contact your State Senators and Legislators to support ROE funding and override the Governor’s funding veto.

September 23, 2011: Regional Education Office Ask your state Senator and Representativeto call a special session immediately to override Governor Quinn's veto. At the very least, during the veto session which begins in October, the legislature should override the governor’s veto of funding to Regional Offices of Education and their Superintendents.

September 14, 2011: Illinois Health Benefits Exchange Contact your state Senator and Representative and let them know we support a Competitive Health Insurance Marketplace modeled on SB 1729 with independent governance, consumer focus, strong conflict of interest and transparency provisions.

May 19, 2011: Maximize Revenues to Reduce Harmful Budget Cuts Contact legislators in both houses to oppose an accelerated $600 million tax break for large businesses and to authorize debt-restructuring bonds.

May 12, 2011: Support Campaign Contribution Limits for Legislative Leaders and Political Parties Ask Legislators to sign on as sponsors of HB 1344 and SB 1272.

May 4, 2011: Oppose Concealed Carrying of Weapons. Once again contact your state representative and urge him/her to oppose HB 148.

May 4, 2011: Support SB 1729 - Health Benefits Exchange Act. Call Senate President Cullerton to support and your State Senator to sponsor this bill.

April 25, 2011: . Support for Clean Water Bills. Clean water is a critical resource in Illinois. Please contact your state legislators and urge them to support and co-sponsor the package of clean water bills.

April 20, 2011: Oppose Concealed Carrying of Weapons. Once again contact your state representative and urge him/her to oppose HB 148.

April 12, 2011 Update: Oppose School Vouchers. Urge your State Senator to vote no on SB 1932, a bill to provide a pilot voucher program in Chicago.

March 23, 2011: Oppose Concealed Carrying of Weapons. Contact your state legislators and ask them to vote against HB 148 and SB 82.

March 21, 2011: Support Health Insurance Rate Review and IL Personal Education Responsibility Program. Urge your State Representative to support HB 1501 and urge your State Senator to support SB 1619.

March 11, 2011: Oppose School Vouchers. Urge your State Senator to vote no on SB 1932, a bill to provide a pilot voucher program in Chicago.

March 7, 2011: Pass additional Campaign Contribution Limits. Urge your legislators to co-sponsor legislation that would limit contributions in the General Election by legislative leaders and parties.

February 15, 2011: Pay overdue bills - Vote yes for SB3. Call or write your legislators today.

January 7, 2011: Pass the Death Penalty Abolition bill. The Death Penalty Abolition Bill, SB 3539, which passed in the IL House last week, passed in the IL Senate yesterday (Tuesday, January 11) and now goes to Governor Quinn for his signature.

January 3, 2011: Increase the state income tax rate. Call or write your legislators today.
