A+ Illinois ( http://www.aplusillinois.org/aboutus/member.asp)
has a complete listing of organizations
supporting their work, one of which is the League of Women
Voters Illinois. Many of these organizations, such as Lutheran
Services and Farm Bureau representatives have made themselves
available in the past to meet with local League members. By
reviewing this list, you will be able to find who in your
area is working on this issue. As members of the A+ Illinois
coalition, they support the same principles as the LWVIL.
You may also wish to contact Better Funding for Better
Schools. BFBS’s contact is Chris Slowik, who
is also a League member.
The PTA of Illinois is also supporting school
funding and tax reform.
The LaGrange League is working with the Illinois
Association of Gifted Children. Contact Krista Grimm
for information on how to contact this organization.
You may also wish to explore relationships with local organizations
that traditionally support schools and social justice issues,
such as realtors, some churches, the AAUW, the Rotary, Lions’
Club, local Woman’s Club, Junior League, and the Kiwanis
Club.
Be sure to form a relationship with your local school superintendent and school boards. |
