ACTION NEEDED NOW
Contact Illinois Senate Executive Committee (members listed below) and urge them to vote
- YES in support of these campaign limits: $2400 individual campaign contributions per election cycle
- $30,000 transfer limit from legislative leaders or PACS
BACKGROUND: The Senate Executive Committee is scheduled to meet to discuss proposals for limiting campaign contributions this week. There is currently no specific bill number, but this is one of LWVIL’s top priority advocacy issues and we are working very hard to achieve passage of meaningful campaign contribution limits. Although higher limits are included in some proposals, LWVIL is standing firm with several other organizations at the lower levels. Last week during Lobby Day we spoke to many legislators about this position and we had a virtual call in lobby day to increase the number of League requests. This is a continuation of our efforts.

BILL STATUS: There is no specific bill at this time but legislative leaders are in discussions and negotiations to respond to the public demand for taking the money out of Illinois politics.
