ACTION NEEDED: Clean water is a critical resource in Illinois. Please contact your state legislators* and urge them to support and co-sponsor this package of clean water bills:
HB3504 - Permit fees for Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations. Currently, CAFOs are the only industrial polluter of our rivers that do not pay a fee for a permit. Pollution from CAFOs can be very destructive, such as the 19 mile spill that killed 130,000 fish in 2009 in Iroquois County's Spring Creek.
SB664 - Chemical disclosure for hydraulic fracturing. Hydraulic fracturing is a type of natural gas mining where water injected with chemicals is inserted into a well to fracture shale and collect natural gas. This bill requires those chemicals to be disclosed, protecting groundwater.
HB3372 - Promote Green Stormwater Infrastructure. This bill gives urban counties the tools to promote the use of green stormwater infrastructure to reduce flooding and water pollution.

It is vital that we protect Illinois' clean water resources. Pollution of our groundwater, rivers, and lake is costly to clean and often irreversible. These bills protect water in all areas of the state.
