Support HB5789. This bill would require manufacturers and distributors of children's products to include a warning statement on the product if it contains more than 40 parts per million of lead.

Lead exposure causes permanent health problems for children, pregnant women and other adults, and we are committed to protecting the health and safety of all.

Legislation pending in Congress will lower the lead limit for children's products but will not lower it to the level recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. This is one of the reasons for LWVIL 's support of HB5789. Urge your legislators to vote for passage of this HB5789.
