Voter Registration |
Stay Involved. Get Registered. Help your friends get registered.
"While pundits will dissect the ups and downs of individual
candidates for months to come, the League hopes that voters
will continue to stay engaged throughout the campaign. We will
be working throughout the year to ensure the election system
works for all voters, and want to urge all Americans to get
registered and vote this fall! While you're at it, make sure
our friends and loved ones are registered by sending them to
www.VOTE411.org
to get started." —Mary Wilson, President LWVUS
- Persons in Illinois wishing to register to vote must be a U.S.
citizen, 18 years of age by election day and must have
resided at their current address for at least 30 days.

period just prior to an election and during the 2-day period after
each election (1 day after in Chicago).
October 7, 2008, is the last day
to register or transfer registration for the November
4, 2008, General Primary Election.
Illinois law provides individuals who were
unable to register to vote or change their address
prior to the traditional deadline (28 days prior
to an election) a "grace period" to register
and vote. The "grace period" is from the
27th day through the 14th day prior to an election.
October 8, 2008, the Grace Period begins.
October 21, 2008, the Grace Period Ends.
During the Grace Period individuals may only
register in-person at the office of their election
authority. |

one showing your current address. Persons registering by

at that time.

name. People who move within 28 days of an election
but reside in the same precinct may vote by signing an affidavit.
