PLAN a combo PETITION PARTY - BIRTHDAY PARTY!
In honor of its 90th birthday, the LWVIL is encouraging all local Leagues to host a Fair Map Petition Party and Birthday Celebration before mid-April. Invite all registered voters of your election jurisdiction to come by, sign a petition, and have a piece of cake!
 |
Members can help with this celebration by downloading, in advance of the party, a petition from www.ilfairmap.com, collecting signatures, and bringing the signed petitions to the party. Celebrate our 90th birthday AND help to reform redistricting and end corruption in Illinois! |
Time for Action on ILLINOIS' BUDGET CRISIS
Contact your State Representative (http://www.ilga.gov) and Governor Quinn (http://www.illinois.gov/gov/contactthegovernor.cfm). Urge them to support and pass HB 174.
Passage of this bill would provide needed revenue to the state by increasing the personal income tax rate to at least 5 per cent. It would also provide some progressivity to the current tax structure in the form of tax credits for low and moderate income families. Read more.
LEAGUE STILL OPPOSES VIDEO GAMING TAX
The LWVIL opposes the use of gaming as a solution to Illinois’ fiscal problems. Read the reasons for our opposition and an abbreviated version of LWVIL policy: Gambling: No Cure for State's Fiscal Ills.
