The League of Women Voters of Illinois publishes a biannual newsletter, The Voter, which informs of major membership events, status of action foci activities, and Illinois legislative actions. All Illinois League members receive The Voter, and non-members may be included on the mailing list for a small service fee.
This document is the biennial summary of the League of Women Voters of Illinois's positions on issues. It is the platform from which all programs, lobbying, and voter education are carried out. It is a companion to Impact on Issues, the program book of the League of Women Voters of the United States. Taken together, these publications and the League Principles form the basis for all action taken by Illinois Leagues on state and national issues.
This booklet, updated as needed, is an essential tool for League members and members of the public who want to influence the political process. It reminds citizens that “You have a say in shaping the laws that govern our state. Voice your concerns effectively by following the basic principles covered in this booklet. Apply the same principles when you communicate with your local government and with our leaders in Washington, DC. Reach for this booklet whenever you want to send a message to government decision makers--whether they are elected to public office or employed in government agencies.”
