Voting & Elections
The battle for women to gain the right to vote began with the famous meeting in Seneca Falls, New York, on July 20, 1848. Courageous, determined visionaries, the women who began this fight did not live to see the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920. The League of Women Voters was established as a nonpartisan organization to educate and inform not only women but all citizens about the process and issues involved in voting and elections. This area represents the heart of the work done by the League.
