Join us to learn about running for public office! The focus will be on local governing bodies; village boards, school boards, libraries, and park districts.
The first part of the program will cover the nuts and bolts of getting on the ballot and conducting a campaign—local and state ballot access rules, petition circulation, how caucuses work, campaign finance, etc. Ancel Glink, a law firm specializing in election law, will speak on these topics.
The second part of the program will consist of a panel of four local office holders who will share their own stories about why they sought office; the challenges, the satisfactions, and the surprises.
This event is open to the public. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end. Registration is requested.
This event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the La Grange Area.
