We invite the community to a Voting Rights Activation event to hear speakers address issues such as: Voting Rights Act History, Civil Rights, Voting Rights, Civic Power, Economic and Civil Justice.

Bring chairs or blankets to sit on the grass outside the Peoria Lincoln Branch Library! There will be water, snacks and music.

In addition, we have volunteers to man a phone bank in this low voter turnout area to call registered voters and ask them about their plan to vote, talk about the importance of voting, undervoting, and then text them a link to the VOTE411.org so they can learn about the candidates on their local ballot.

• Jackie Cannon, CFO Elite Community, to speak on Voting Rights

• LWVGP President Chris Kaergard to speak on the Voting Rights Act and the local Peoria connection

• Bernice Gordon Young, a Peoria City Council member, to speak on Civic Power

• Marcellus Sommerville, President and CEO of Peoria Friendship House to speak on Economic and Civil Justice
