New Executive Director Joins the League of Women Voters of Illinois

CHICAGO, IL, April 8, 2026 — The League of Women Voters of Illinois is pleased to welcome its new Executive Director, Naomi Sheridan.

Sheridan has a proven background as an executive director, combined with a deep passion for social justice and promoting democracy, and she will help to further advance the mission of the League of Women Voters of Illinois.

“I am looking forward to being engaged in the work of League of Women Voters during this crucial time in American democracy,” said Sheridan. 

Becky Simon, President of the League of Women Voters of Illinois, added, “We are thrilled to welcome Naomi as our new Executive Director. She will bring experience, enthusiasm and great communication skills to our work. We feel very lucky to have found a new nonprofit leader and look forward to an invigorating partnership with her.”

Sheridan assumed the role on March 30, and she will manage day-to-day operations for the League of Women Voters of Illinois, which is the parent organization for 43 local League chapters across the state, representing more than 4,300 members. 

For 106 years, the League has worked to empower voters and defend democracy.
